The Designer

Following his passion and inspiration Johannes Hoyos reveals the potential of ostrich eggs. Inspired by the eggs’ shapes, colours and deeper symbolic meaning, he developed the initial lamps into sculptural designed objects embracing the mere ostrich egg.

Theme:

The egg, symbol of life and its beginning, is the central theme that inspires the designer and his work. The hidden dynamical processes of life and its tangled paths, as well as its fragile state and peaceful nature, are the origin and inspiration behind each sculpture.


Each egg is unique as the potential life it embodies. This uniqueness inspires an individual creative process highlighting the character of the egg. Depending on this individuality, certain aspects of the egg are brought to light.

Furthermore an individual frame of chrome complements each egg. It highlights the power and dynamic of the Eggs shape and transfers its energies to the third dimension. The final sculpture is multifaceted and sometimes disturbing and demanding to the observer.
